Part 1 of a 3-part series: Publication Planning Master Class: Ethics, Metrics, and Collaboration
The ability to work effectively with authors is crucial to a publication planner’s success. From ethical concerns, such as paying authors, establishing goals, roles, responsibilities, and order of authorship, a pub planner must navigate an ever-changing and tricky landscape. How do you deal with authors who are tardy or have differences in opinions on the message of the publication? What should you do to ensure data is interpreted appropriately? What if an author disagrees with you regarding the decision to submit to a particular journal? This webinar focuses on real-world examples of these practical concerns and the panelists will discuss proactive ways to handle authorship issues. Key topics include:
- Who should be listed as an author?
- Acknowledging credit where credit is due, regardless of affiliation (academic, non-academic, industry)
- Establishing order of authorship: Tools you can use
- Handling conflicts of interest and disclosing them in the publication
- Paying authors – is this appropriate, ethical or right?
